IF I RULED THE WORLD - MYLEENE KLASS

Classical pianist, model and broadcaster Myleene Klass was born in Norfolk in 1978, and currently lives in South London.

She performed in the West End version of Miss Saigon and became a household name as one of the winning contestants in the first series of Popstars in 2001. As a result, she became part of the band HearSay.

After they split up, she released the album Moving On, has presented CD:UK, Livingtvs Ghost Towns and was a finalist on Im A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Myleene is now the face of Sky HDs 21st Century Test Card, an easy to understand guide advising viewers how to get the best picture and sound from their HD Ready TV.

The 21st Century Test Card was launched to mark the first anniversary of Sky HD and to coincide with it being 40 years since the original test card. She can now be seen on Sky Arts HD (channel 268).

WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FIRST ACT AS RULER?

I would insist everyone had pancakes on a Sunday. I make them every week at my house and they set you up for the week.

WHO WOULD BE YOUR MOST TRUSTED ADVISER?

My fella, Graham, because hes very grounded. Were complete opposites and I think rather than having somebody that agrees with you, you need to have a bit of opposition so you get both sides of the story.

WHO WOULD YOU BANISH?

Traffic wardens. I would keep the streets free for people.

WOULD YOU BE A DICTATOR OR A BENEVOLENT LEADER?

Id like to think Id not be a dictator. Im a big sister and youve got to get the vote with the whole family. Youve got to see what everyone wants to do. I like teamwork. Ive always been in groups,
whether its a band or an orchestra.

WHO WOULD YOU SINGLE OUT FOR A KNIGHTHOOD AND WHY?

My mum and all my friends, especially Lauren Laverne. Shes been very good on the old advice and kept her head.

WHO WOULD YOU SEND TO THE TOWER OR PUT IN THE STOCKS?

Clampers. They bring so much misery to people, whether youre trying to get to work or get your shopping done, theres always someone in the way, either trying to give you a ticket or stop you getting into your own town.

WHICH LAW WOULD YOU ABOLISH?

The fact St Georges Day is not a day off. Id make sure it was because we should celebrate our own patron saint.

WHAT LAW WOULD YOU INTRODUCE?

I hate the one about collecting the rubbish late. Id get it collected every day and Id put recycle bins in every office.

Everyone keeps asking me what my carbon footprint is, and I think Im not doing a bad job, but I go into offices where people want to recycle but they cant because theres no bins and nobody to collect it.

WHICH BUILDING WOULD YOU DEMOLISH AND WHY?

I wouldnt demolish them, but I think the authorities should get their act together over the pyramids. Im mad about Egyptology, so I went to see them and there was rubbish and camel dung everywhere. I thought: Come on guys. People are coming here to see one of the wonders of the
world. Theyve got to clear up the crisp packets at least.

WHICH RULER OR MONARCH DO YOU MOST ADMIRE OR HAVE MOST IN COMMON WITH?

I like the young princes. Harry is brilliant and I think he is a good role model because he shows hes normal. People like the fact theyre average lads dealing with everyday events, and thats admirable.
Hopefully its brought people close to the monarchy again.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR ANOTHER PIECE OF MUSIC, WHAT
WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Id never change it. I think its spot on. I hear other anthems and they get a bit confusing and blurred, but ours is definitive and I love it and I get really excited when we sing it at the Proms.
